Services

The International Services Center (ISC), is comprised of 5 units that are here to serve the international community at UCF. These units and their services are as follows:

Admissions


The International Admissions Team (IAT) assists international applicants who are coming from abroad or transferring from other U.S. institutions.
Services include:
  • Process & collect immigration related documents
  • Issue form I-20 for admitted students
  • Guidance on F-1 visa application process
  • Changes of status to F-1
  • Facilitate new student immigration orientation sessions

Advising


Immigration advisers at ISC provide assistance and support to current international F-1 students and J-1 students, researchers and scholars at UCF.
Services include:
  • Ensure maintenance of immigration status
  • Change of major/academic level on I-20
  • Travel authorization & re-entry advice
  • Employment guidance (on campus, CPT, OPT)
  • Issuance of dependent documents (spouse/children)
  • Program extension & reduced course loads
  • Changes of status to F-1
  • Assist with waiver of 2 year home residency rule (J-1 visa holders)
  • F-1 & J-1 reinstatement
  • Support to departments in bringing visiting scholars to UCF
  • Guidance and advisement on appropriate status, J-1 versus H1-B

Employment and Taxation


This unit handles employment & taxation related issues for foreign national employees. Services include:
  • Process payroll sign-in for new employees
  • Guidance on SSN and ITIN applications
  • Employment Eligibility Expiration (I-9) updates
  • Visa Verification for Student Financial Aid
  • Tax filing and tax exemptions guidance
  • Assist with processing of H1B petitions
  • Host H1B, Permanent Residency, & tax workshops

Cultural Programming


The ISC ensures that every international student has a positive, memorable UCF experience. Services include:

  • Welcome Week activities that includes a Welcome Reception
  • Celebration of International Education Week (including Thanksgiving Dinner and International Fair)
  • Annual participation in the Florida International Leadership Conference
  • Workshops (Resume Building & Interviewing Techniques, etc.)
  • Independence Day Picnic & Winter Holiday Party
  • Viewing of international sporting events on projection TV
  • Off campus excursions to Orlando area attractions
  • Culture nights (food, music, & traditions of specific cultures)

Recruitment


The international recruitment team works to increase and diversify the international student population at UCF. Services include:

  • Attending Education Fairs abroad
  • Maintaining International Alumni Network
  • Developing Advertising
  • Working with Faculty/Staff on joint recruitment efforts
  • Building relationships with international agencies/universities
  • Visiting Community Colleges
  • Assisting Prospective students throughout the admissions process
